So what is
the status of WBO junior lightweight titlist Ricky Burns and his scheduled
defense on HBO's “Boxing After Dark” on November 26th in Cincinnati,
Ohio?
"I
don't know," admitted Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer on
Wednesday, "Frank Warren called me late last night, like eight o'clock [PM]
my time; it was four o'clock in the UK. And he said he was going to be meeting
today with Ricky Burns and that supposedly, [Burns] has problems making weight.
But that hasn't been decided yet, whether he's going to take the fight or
vacate. The fact is me and Frank Warren have a deal in place for Burns to fight
but of course, if the kid is going to vacate the title, then that becomes a
moot issue and Adrien Broner will fight for the vacant title."
