The talented Gary Russell Jr. is scheduled to
fight on HBO on November 26th. A bout with Teon Kennedy was discussed but I was told on Wednesday by his promoter, J. Russell Peltz, that Russell Jr. and
his team wanted the fight at 127 pounds. Kennedy, a natural junior
featherweight, was willing to go to 126.
Great, now we got guys who are coming off eight-rounders
on HBO making such demands?
I guess being with the Haymon Boxing Organization
has its privileges.
As the hunt goes on to find a dance partner for
Russell, it's very simple: if it's not worthy of being on HBO, then the network
should just air clips of that fight (much like they did with Mikey Garcia on
Saturday night). Regardless, stop the enabling and perpetuating the same
problems that have plagued this network for years.
