I like the Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez undercard that was put on by Top Rank. Mike Alvarado showed something special in stopping Breidis Prescott in the tenth and final round while behind on all three scorecards. In what was his sternest test to date, he was bruised, cut up and swallowing more than a drop of his own blood but he was able to slowly and steadily turn the tide late in the fight, finally breaking down Prescott. Throw his hat in the mix with any blue-chip junior welterweight and watch the carnage.

- Tim Bradley's right hand continues to frustrate me. I mean, that thing is more elongated than a batting practice machine. Time and time again, he overshoots and loads up on it. Bradley's a much more effective fighter when he's an active, volume puncher than a guy who thinks he's a true puncher. If he attacked Joel Casamayor’s body early on, that fight doesn't go five rounds. Bradley is a guy with a lot of physical tools who still has to figure out how to best implement them.

- Once again, Top Rank put on a great production on a major pay-per-view show, from the lighting to the custom-made scoreboard. The staging of this event was great and really enhanced the atmosphere of the card. I've said for years that American promoters/cards have lagged behind their counterparts in Europe, regarding all the bells and whistles that go along with the actual fights. Yeah, it's about the fights but this is the entertainment business and if you look at every other major sport, they don't just trot out their games. For too many years, the live viewing experience has been neglected by TV packagers who don't invest one dime back into their productions. In essence, they stuff their television license fees into their pockets and do little else.

The energy inside that building on Saturday night was spectacular. On this night, boxing was truly a major league sport.

- Steve “Mexi-Kim” believes that the Mexican national anthem should be sung at every major boxing card in the States, whether there is a Mexican in competition or not. There is nothing like that song being sung by thousands of Mexicans before the main event of a big fight. It's one of my favorite traditions in all of boxing.
