I
got this particularly humorous email from Mark Todry, best known for his “Least
Interesting Fighter in the World” missive on Adrien Broner a while back. It
came with this title: “Andre Berto is Underpaid!” and it read: “Kwame Brown:
1-year, $7 million from Golden State. Is Kwame also managed by Al Haymon?”
That
brought about this exchange between us:
Me: “Ha
ha!!! Kwame ‘Scissorhands’!!!”
Mark:
“This ought to give new life to the Occupy Oakland movement.”
Me: “How
desperate are they for bigs, dude is a complete stiff”
Mark:
“Isn't this why we had the lockout in the first place?
Me: “Kwame's $7 million contract:NBA lockout::Berto's purse for
fighting Freddie Hernandez:Why Ross Greenburg doesn't work at HBO
anymore”
Mark: “This analogy would work except that Ross got fired after multiple bad contracts whereas the NBA
lockout took place before Kwame
Brown signed his
ridiculous contract.”
Me: “Brown had better give his parents
half his money, their gene pool is the only reason why he's in the league”
Mark: “Maybe Kwame should've been a
boxer. After all, he has hands of stone.”
I
gotta tell ya, this Todry is good but if I see Sam Watson and his two sons
hanging around the Golden State Warriors bench this season, I'm going to get
awfully suspicious.
