Cedric Kushner, one of the most successful New York City based boxing promoter of recent years, passed away yesterday at the aged of 66.
The South African born promoter, who promoted many shows HBO on in the 1990’s and early 2000’s, died of a heart attack.
Kushner was most famous for promoting heavyweights and specialized in budget pay-per-view event called “Heavyweight Explosion”.
He promoted Hasim Rahman vs Lennox Lewis in South Africa in 2001. Kushner also promoted Shane Mosley, Joel Casamayor, Shannon Briggs, Jameel McCline, David Tua and Michael Grant.
Prior to promoting boxing Kushner was involved in the music industry where he promoted the likes of Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones.
