Heavyweight rivals Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury came through their respective bouts at the Copperbox Arena in London on Saturday night to set up a summer showdown WBO title eliminator.
In a clash between former world title challengers Chisora floored Johnson in round five with a big right hand and looked as though he was going to score a stoppage win but Johnson somehow survived the battering against the determined Chisora, who was looking to impress.
Johnson somehow managed to get to his feet and did well to last out the round as Chisora went all out to finish the job. Johnson went on the defensive for the defensive soon after but staged a late rally as Chisora began to tire. Is was not enough, however as Chisora hung on to clinch a 118-109 twice and 118-110 on all three judges cards.
Speaking after the fight a delighted Chisora said " I give credit to Johnson he came to survive. I said this was going to be long night, it was going to be 12 rounds In the summer me and Tyson(Fury) will get it on."
On the undercard Fury looked a little-heavy and ring rusty after being out of the ring for nearly a year. Although he decked Abell five times including a low blow he was rocked himself by a couple of left hooks before the referee stopped the fight after 0. 36 second into the fourth round.
