IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook hopes he and bitter rival Amir Khan are just one fight away from facing each other in an all British world title clash at Wembley Stadium in London, England, in 2016.
Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed on Tuesday that he was in early talks with Team Khan and hopes a massive fight in front of 80,000 can happen. First though, both are due to fight later in the year, Brook in October and Khan, possibly a month later. Providing both are victorious then the eagerly awaited battle of the Brits could happen.
"I know that talks are on the way,” Brook told Sky Sports. “It looks like British fans might finally get the fight that is well overdue.
"I’m due to fight in October and I think he(Khan) is expected to fight in November, so let’s get those wins.
Brook added: “It doesn’t get any bigger than walking out in your own country, with a packed out stadium, full of people anticipating the fight.
“It would be so satisfying because I’m hearing the name, I’m hearing about the fight wherever I go, whatever I do, so it will put a lot of things to bed.
"It’s been too long and I think the fight has to happen."
