By Mark G. Butcher in Las Vegas. Four-time world champion Tim Bradley easily made the weight for his 12-round welterweight skirmish with Diego Chaves – even after a light breakfast.
The Californian scaled 145.8lbs while Chaves came in at 146.5lbs at Friday’s weigh-in at the Gracia Ballroom. Bradley meets the uncompromising Argentine before a sell-out crowd at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on Saturday (live on HBO).
“I can’t wait to get back in the ring and do what I do. It’s been a while since I felt like this because I am past the whole [Manny] Pacquiao thing,” said Bradley, who split two points decisions with the great Filipino. “So my mind is clear. And on top of that I had a tremendous training camp for this fight. You see I came in on weight at 145 and it was really easy. I even ate a banana, too, and I ate breakfast this morning so I feel fantastic.”
Chaves was in a good state of mind, ahead of what the Argentine has termed the toughest fight of his career. “It is a great opportunity. He is one of the most important boxers in the world," said Chaves. "So we expect a good fight on Saturday. I feel at home in Las Vegas. Everyone treats me really good and it is comfortable for me. I will show the people I am a cleaner boxer, a respectful boxer. You will see on Saturday.”
