Brick City /Irvington, New Jersey based Dominican fighter, Francisco Lorenzo, 33-1, 14 KO's will fighting for the vacant WBC super featherweight against Humberto Sosa, 45-7, 29 KO's. The title was vacated when pound for pound champion Manny Pacquiao moved up. This fight is a rematch of a fight that took place back in June and ended in a controversial fashion when Sosa was disqualified. Lorenzo and his trainer-manager, Jose Rosario were disappointed that the title was not given to Lorenzo after the DQ victory. In June the WBC chose not to award Lorenzo the title due to the controversial ending of the fight, instead ordering a return bout.

Since the bout Soto has fought once for the Interim WBC title, but ultimately must fight Lorenzo again. The fight will take place in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico on December 20th. Trainer-manager Jose Rosario is looking forward to the rematch, but explained, "The way we feel is Fransisco should be going in as the world chamion. They decided not to give him title so now we have to go down to his house to take the title. We expect a tough fight, but this is his time and he earned this opportunity. He is ready and he will go to take care of his business in the ring. While Soto has been doing a lot of talking talking, Lorenzo doesn't like to talk much... he will do his talking in the ring."

The Lorenzo camp feels that they had an off night in the first fight, but they won on a DQ and as a result should be entering the rematch as the champion. Team Lorenzo feels that their guy should be given more respect as a seasoned veteran who has been in with many top fighters and holds a victory over current lightweight champion Nate Campbell. Rosario explained, "We have the better track record going in and we plan to bring the title back to NJ to the Brick City."
