Nate Campbell’s Manager Speaks on Campbell vs Casamayor Rematch
Interview by Gabriel Montoya (April 17, 2008) Doghouse Boxing
Moments ago, Doghouseboxing.com spoke with Terry Trekas, manager of Nate Campbell, regarding the WBO ordering a Campbell vs. Joel Casamayor rematch.

"The WBO had already given Casamayor until April 4th to make a decision regarding this fight or be stripped," said Trekas. "That deadline passed and he did nothing. Now they are giving him another? All it's doing is wasting our time and making us wait another 15 days. [Casamayor] is going to sit and wait for a purse bid and waste
more of our time. What I may do is ask Don [King] to make the purse bid now. We don’t have to wait the 15 days. We can get this process over with sooner rather than later. Then Casamayor can be officially stripped and we can move on to [Amir] Khan or [Anthony] Peterson or whomever they decide is next in line. [Casamayor] isn't going to fight us. All this is doing is wasting two months of our time."

As for who he would prefer between Khan and Peterson?

"We don't really have a preference. With Khan there is probably more money, sure. But either one. It doesn't matter."

And the rumored Manny Pacquiao/Campbell fight?

"It is a real conversation but Pacquiao has to get past David Diaz first. Everyone is talking like he is going to walk right through Diaz. That's a tough fight. Any number of things can happen Anything can happen between now
and June 28th (the date of the Diaz/Pacquiao fight). He could lose. They may revisit their options after that fight. Who knows? It's a great conversation but we'll just have to wait and see what happens June 28th."
