Sam Peter; “I’ve been waiting too long”
INTERVIEW By Gabriel Montoya (Aug 9, 2007) Doghouse Boxing
Last night, as he was arriving in New York for Thursday’s press conference announcing his WBC title bout against Oleg Maskaev, Sam ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ Peter took the time out to speak with DoghouseBoxing.com.

Mr. Peter was gracious and succinct as he made his way through the airport and gave me his thoughts on the upcoming and long awaited title bout.

Gabriel Montoya: Sam, how are you this evening?

Sam Peter:
I’m okay. I’m fine.

GM: How good does it feel that the fight is finally set after all this time?

SP:
Well, we were waiting for the right time for this to happen. So now I guess this is the right time. We’re ready to roll.

GM: You’ve been training all this time?

SP:
Yes, I’ve been training. Staying ready.

GM: Have you worked on anything new?

SP:
No not really. We’re ready for however the fight goes.

GM: We saw you box a little more in the James Toney rematch. We will see more of that with Maskaev?

SP: No. I don’t need to box Maskaev. I need to beat him up.

GM: How do you feel about Maskaev making you wait all this time? Is the fight going to be more personal because of that?

SP:
No it’s not personal. Everyone that got involved is at fault.

GM: How do you see the fight playing out? Decision or knockout?

SP:
Knockout. I don’t want to waste my time. I’ve been waiting too long. I want the time in the ring to go fast.

GM: After this fight, should you get the title, you are set to fight Vitali Klitschko. How do you feel about that?

SP:
Feel good. I look forward to fighting a very good boxer.

GM: Do you look forward to a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko?

SP:
Absolutely.

GM: Thank you, Sam for taking the time out to talk to Doghouseboxing.com.

SP:
Thank you.
