Benny Henderson Jr.
What can you tell us about your upcoming opponent?
Nick Givhan He is a fighter. The thing about my camp is, I let my coach and management do all the scouting and studying. They come to the gym and give me a blueprint of what to do. I don’t know much about this guy, but, I am trusting my camp to give me a winning strategy.
BH
Your opponent is undefeated as you are, so, in saying that, do you feel this is the biggest test of your career?
NG
Definitely, thus far in my career it is. I trust my team, they train me well. there is not much that I cannot handle. Somebody is going to have to come at me with their Wheaties and Cornflakes to beat me at this point. It is actually a good test for me, I cannot fight cab drivers my whole career. So every fight from 6-0 i have been stepping it up. And this is the biggest test so far.
BH
As far as the ones who do not know who you are. How would you describe your style, your greatest accolades as a fighter?
NG
I am familiar with a coach who trained with James Toney, he trained my coach the Philly Shell., the shoulder style. I have that style, I have a great defense. And, I am a confident flashy kind of guy. You will leave my fight being pleased with something. My walk out, a knock out or tremendous body work.
BH
I know the flash is good and all, but what matters to me is what happens in the ring. So my question is, in your humble opinion, what separates you from the other prospects in your division?
NG
The thing is you just took my character away asking for my humble opinion. Because I am going to give you the answer you are asking for. it won’t be quite humble but it will be truthful. My way of being separate from these other fighters, they are trying to prove how different they are from other fighters,. I am not trying to prove that I am different, I am trying to prove that I am great. my goal is to be great not different. Blueprint my shoe print, it is not about being different, it is about being great.
BH
You fought in the cage as well?
NG
James Toney inspired that too. I was 15-1 with six title belts in eight and a half months.
BH
So, your a big James Toney fan?
NG
Oh, that’s my guy.
BH
What can the fight fans expect from you come fight night?
NG
Expect me to be full of confidence from my walk out to my ring performance. The can expect me to work my fast jab and do some nice body work. Expect me for what I have been doing for eleven fights now, and that is win.
BH
Any message you would like to send out to your opponent?
