Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano
Undefeated IBF Female Super Featherweight title holder Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano 14-0-1 (9) is on a mission to command and conquer in keeping her unblemished record in tact when she steps in with fellow unbeaten Frida Wallberg 10-0 (2) April 27th in Wallberg's home country of Sweden. The Puerto Rican born, Brooklyn based Serrano earned her strap in September of 2010 with a second round TKO over Kimberly Conner. And now the hard hitting female fighter is looking for another knock out victory in keeping her title as well as the winning streak alive. In this exclusive interview Serrano speaks out on her upcoming fight, career and more, enjoy.

Benny Henderson Jr.:  Amanda, you’re traveling to fight Frida Wallberg for the WBC female super featherweight title on April 27th in her native country of Sweden.  Can you tell us how training is going and if you are doing anything different for this fight?

Amanda Serrano:
Training camp is going excellent.  We always train hard.  This time we’re running a little more and hitting the bag a little harder, because you know we have to out there for the knockout.

BH:  How exciting is it for you to be fighting for another world title?

AS:
I’m really excited.  It will be the first time going overseas, but I’m not excited about the flight (laughs).  I’ve always wanted to fight for the WBC title…it’s even a bigger dream to win it.  That’s awesome for me… just having the opportunity is wonderful.  I can’t be any more ready than I am now.  If it was my choice I’d be there tomorrow fighting.

BH:  Your promoter Boxing360, Mario Yagobi put in a lot of hard work for you to get this fight.  How happy are you with his efforts toward your boxing career?

AS:
Oh man he’s wonderful.  I said it before I love him to death.  He’s done everything good by me.  He’s just a wonderful guy in general and he’s been giving me all these opportunities.  He’s gotten me fights right back to back.  When he told me about this fight, hands down my trainer Jordan and I were like, let’s go do this.  I would love nothing more than to win this title for Mario Yagobi and for all of us as a team.   I want to be Boxing360’s two time world champion.

BH:  Can you talk about your trainer Jordan Maldonado and how important his been to you as a mentor and leader?

AS:
Jordan is incredible and I love him dearly.  I wouldn't trade him for the world.  He pushes me to a point to where I think I can never go and he’s always around me 24/7 making sure I’m okay.  Constantly he reminds me that I have to fight hard, work hard and ear the right foods.  Jordan is a great motivator who always tells me good things when I second guess myself.   He’ll pull me aside and tell me, Amanda you have everything, you’re a complete fighter.   He’s always trying to bring me up instead of down.   Because of him I am who I am.  I fight with all my heart and I know he’s giving me a lot so I have to give it back to him.  He’s awesome.

BH:  What do you know about your opponent Frida Wallberg, and what does she bring to the ring?

AS:
I’ve seen footage of her and she’s a good boxer but I can’t go by what I’ve seen on tape.  People tend to change so I have to be prepared for different styles.  I’m going to her hometown and I hope I get her out of there so it doesn't go to the judges hands.  I never underestimate any fighter and I know she knows who she’s up against.  She’s training hard I know that.

BH:  So you’re saying you want to end this fight early?

AS:
Of course, I want the knockout, but you can’t always expect it to come, so you have to be prepared to go the distance.  I say knockout because when you go overseas that’s the only way you’re going to win.  A knockout is what I want because I don’t want it to go to the judges.  I want to keep my undefeated record and it’s going to be fun because she’s undefeated as well.  We’re both coming to fight hard.

BH:  Any last words you want to say to the fans in closing?

AS:
Stay tuned, I’m not going to let my fans down.  I want to be the peoples champion and continue winning belts.  If I have to continue going overseas to win titles then let it be.  I just want to keep my fans happy.
