This past Saturday night at the Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino in Indio, California, televised live on Showtime’s ShoBox, IBF light middleweight titlist, Cornelius “K9“ Bundrage 32-4 (19), kept his strap by once again by knocking out former title holder, Cory Spinks 39-7 (11). After the bout the name of Saul Avlarez was brought up, and in this exclusive interview K9 talks Canelo, Cotto, Lara, Don King, Golden Boy, Manny Pacquiao, and more, enjoy.

Benny Henderson Jr.: Congrats on winning the rematch, as well as retaining your title, give the readers your thoughts on the victory.

Cornelius “K9” Bundrage:
It feels good to be the world champ, I am just happy for my family, if I do not deserve it, they do.  And I am happy for my city of Detroit, I love my city.

BH: The second fight was no different then the first bout style-wise, why?

K9:
When a southpaw fights a right hander, it can get crazy. With Spinks doing all of that ducking, holding and grabbing, I heard he was lifting weights to get stronger for this fight, but I still knew that I was stronger than him. I am naturally strong guy, and I proved that, my spiritual strength, mental strength, and natural strength. I do know a fighter as strong as the K9.

BH: After the fight, you proclaimed to be the “Black Rocky”, explain that quote.

K9:
Because I come to fight, whether I am bruised up or bleeding, I am not going to give up. When I lost my first fight, I came back and won a bigger fight. If you knock me down I am going to get up, there is no quit in me. Rocky did the same, the first shall be last, the last shall be first.

BH: Let’s get to Saul Alvarez, he needs an opponent for his bout in September, although your name has been brought up in the mix, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy has stated that you will not be in line to fight Canelo, but you may be matched up against Erislandy Lara. Your thoughts on it all, and do you have any info?

K9:
If my next fight is against a southpaw, it will be against Manny Pacquiao. I am southpaw tired. I will be fighting September 15th against Canelo, or Cotto I think in December. Or we will wait until Floyd gets out, but I am not looking to fight no southpaws unless it is Manny Pacquiao. I am the best fighter out there for Canelo, why not make that fight, it would be Mike Tyson vs. Rocky Marciano dream match. That is the reason I want to do business with Golden Boy, when I talked to my manager he told me they were looking to make a fight with me against Canelo, when I was with Don King, but King wanted more money. So now that I am not with King, it is possible that we may sign with Golden Boy and we can make the fight.

BH: Anything in closing?

K9:
2012 is my year, no matter who I fight, I will be ready, you cannot hold me down, God is great, you can run but you cannot hide, I am going to find you. Another thing I want to make very clear, I am a world champion, I did not bring my belt for the fight on Showtime, because I felt like my belt was not going anywhere. I earned my strap, I am an elite fighter, what other fighter do people want Canelo to fight? It is predestined for Canelo and I to fight, if you cannot beat a thirty-nine year old, you should not be fighting. I am not begging for the fight, I am going to get mine, why fight somebody without a belt, if I do, then it should be Cotto, he has a great name. I am looking to fight somebody who wants to fight, Lara is a boxer, I want to fight somebody who wants to fight! K9 and Canelo, K9 or Cotto, people wants to see two people who will fight.
