Calvin Brock: “I am going to beat Eddie Chambers!”
By Benny Henderson Jr (Oct 29, 2007) Doghouse Boxing
This Friday night from the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington, live 11:00 PM ET/PT on Showtime’s 100th episode of ShoBox: The New Generation, once beaten heavyweight contender Calvin Brock 31-1 (23) looks to be the first to put a blemish on the undefeated record of Eddie Chambers 29-0 (16) as the two heavyweight square off in an IBF title elimination bout.

Brock, known as ‘The Boxing Banker’, has cashed in on some credible opposition that includes a list of fallen foes such as
Terry Smith (UD 10), Jameel McCline (UD 10) and Timor Ibragimov (UD 12), his only blemish coming at the hands of the IBF titleholder Wladimir Klitschko.

Since dropping his bout to Klitschko, Brock has won back-to-back bouts and looks to make it three as he takes on the fast-fisted Eddie Chambers. Calvin took the time out of his schedule to give his thoughts on his upcoming bout, enjoy.

Benny Henderson Jr.: Calvin, you are just days away from your IBF title elimination bout against Eddie Chambers, what are your thoughts my man?

Calvin Brock:
Man I am ready; I leave today to go out there. I am ready to go out there and win and take another step to becoming champion.

BH: What do you see as Chamber’s strengths and weaknesses?

CB:
His strengths, well he will probably be in good shape, and he has fast hands and he has an undefeated record. But, they said the same thing about Timor Ibragimov, he has real fast hands and good movement and I don’t think Calvin will be
bale to handle that. I handled him without a problem, it all depends on who is in with Eddie and Eddie is going to be in the ring with me, and that is going to make a world of difference.

BH: Stylistically who do you feel you two match up, and how do you see this fight playing out?

CB:
I will tell you exactly how it is going to play out, I am going to beat him, by hitting him and him not being able to hit me.

BH: This fight is the IBF eliminator; the winner goes on and fights Povetkin who just stopped Chris Byrd, what are your thoughts on that fight?

CB:
Well obviously with him winning a gold medal he is good, and him coming up so fast with top rank and veteran competition with only fourteen fights under his belt, that is pretty impressive. He is a tough guy and I have not seen him fight, I really don’t have an opinion, but I will think about him after I finish up with Eddie Chambers on Friday.

BH: If you could send out a message to Eddie, what would it be?

CB:
I won’t say anything to him.

BH: Is there anything you would like to add or say in closing of this interview?

CB:
Watch Calvin Brock take the next step at becoming a world champion because I will be.

I would like to thank Calvin Brock for taking out the time to give his thoughts to Doghouse Boxing.
