Saul "Canelo" Alvarez
By John J. Raspanti, Doghouse Boxing: In a little over two weeks, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (39-0, 29 KOs) will put his WBC super welterweight title on the line against former champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley (46-7, 39 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Alvarez has been training in Big Bear, Ca. for the past four weeks.

"I feel great,” Alvarez said to boxingscene’s Miguel Maravilla.

“We are working very hard, and I am ready.”

Alvarez has won his last three fights by knockout. Last November he stopped former champion Kermit Cintron at the Monumental Plaza de Toros, in Mexico City. Alvarez recognizes that Mosley is easily his most difficult test to date.

"Mosley is a complete fighter,” said Alvarez. “He is a 40-year-old that fights like a 25-year-old. He will bring out the best in me, but I will be the first Mexican to defeat Mosley. I dedicate this fight to all Mexican fight fans.”

Mosley didn't win a minute in his last go around with Manny Pacquiao. He’s obviously in the twilight of a magnificent career. Twilight or not, Mosley might have one last super fight in his system. The 21-year-old Alvarez seems ready for whatever Mosley shows up.

“On May 5th, you will see a great fight," Alvarez said. "You will see the best of me. It will be a tough fight but we are preparing for the best Mosley. We are ready.”
