Former super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32 KOs) faces Mehdi Bouadla (22-3, 10 KOs) in a scheduled 12-rounder from Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark on June 4. The bout will be shown via tape delay prior to the Super Six semifinal fight between Carl Froch and Glen Johnson.

Bouadla, ranked fifth by the WBO has won 11 consecutive fights. Kessler, still called the Emeritus champion by the WBC, defeated Carl Froch in an exciting 12 round battle last April. An eye injury forced Kessler to withdraw from the Super Six Boxing Classic quarterfinals and threatened his career. Though some whispered that “The Viking Warrior” had found a way to get out of the tournament, his doctors advised him to shut it down and rest.

Kessler did as he as told but now he’s back. "I have really missed the action in the ring,” the Danish star told reporters. “I am in great shape and I am thrilled to be back. I have been working hard with Jimmy. He has pushed me through a lot of demanding sparring sessions. I´m ready for Bouadla”, he replied.

Bouadla believes he can shock the boxing world “I am here to win,” he stated. “I know Kessler is a great champion and a great fighter but he has been out of the ring for too long. His long break will be a problem for him. This is my chance to make my name known around the world. I will make the most of it.”

Kessler’s experience and power should be enough to get past the light punching Bouadla. His next fight could come in the fall, against IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute .
