ESPN’s Friday Night Fights opened up their 2013 schedule at the Pueblo Pavilion in Sante Fe, Mexico with a crossroads battle between lightweights John Molina Jr. (25-2, 20 KOs) and Dannie Williams (22-3, 18 KOs). Molina ended things dramatically when his powerful right landed on the temple of Williams in round four.

The time 2:16.

In round one, Molina, 30, tried to jab. Williams, shorter by a good three inches, connected with his own jab. Molina, who was stopped in a championship bid in his last outing by Antonio DeMarco, landed a good right at the bell.

Molina pressed Williams in round two. Williams, 28, landed a hard right in the middle of the round. That same punched landed two more times during the three minutes. Molina connected with a one two that backed up Williams.

Williams came out throwing lead right hands in the third round. After an accidental head butt, Molina landed a hard left hook that buckled the knees of Williams.

In round four, Williams tried to box and stay away. He connected with a combination. Molina moved forward with confidence. As Williams backed to the ropes, Molina threw a light jab followed by a thudding right that landed on the left temple of Williams sending the St. Louis native sprawling to the canvas.

Williams attempted to beat the fatal 10 count , but failed.

I went out and landed the right hand,” said Molina after the fight. “I feel real good with my new trainer Robert Garcia.”
