This week marks the first ever release of the World Boxing Media Pro-Boxing Poll rankings. The rankings cover all sixteen weight divisions, and are aimed at trying to bring clarity to our beloved sport. The poll has voters from all over the world that represent a collection of internet, print and television boxing media. It is not the goal of the WBM to crown a champion, only to recognize deserving fighters, and make it easier for fans to follow the sport.

The WBM poll currently consist of forty-five members of the boxing media, representing the USA, Canada, New Zealand, England, Italy, Panama, Ireland and Australia. It is currently the largest collection of boxing pundits, with the greatest global reach of any independent poll. Hopefully, over the next year it grows to include members of the media from many more countries, giving it an even greater international perspective to fully represent the world wide appeal of our sport.

The first rankings were released on Wednesday, February 1st, and will be updated every month. At the end of the year the WBM will honor the top fighters in each division for their achievements.

I once again would like to invite more members of the boxing media to join in and help the sport of boxing. We need your help to make a positive change in the sport, and we want to give you a voice. We need your input to make our rankings as comprehensive and complete as possible. To the fans of our beloved sport look out every month for updated rankings, and keep track of where your favorite fighters place with the rest of the elite. Hopefully the World Boxing Media Pro Boxing Poll can do for boxing what the Associated Press Poll has done for college sports in America.
