Philly’s Tevin “American Idol” Farmer, 15-4-1 (3), will do battle with PR’s Emanuel “Manny” Gonzalez, 14-0 (7), out of the Bronx, NY, on Fox Sports 1 Thursday in the Main Event!
Farmer is on an 8 fight win streak under manager Mark Cipparone also out of Philly and owner of Rocco’s Collision. Farmer has beaten several PR prospects such as then unbeaten Camilo Perez and Noel Echevarria, then 11-1, and is hoping to add Gonzalez to that list.
Gonzalez also defeated Echevarria. Gonzalez has only defeated 3 of his 14 opponents with winning records. Farmer has been in much tougher which is typical of Philly boxers.
“I’m in the best shape of my career for this important fight,” said Gonzalez. Team Farmer which includes trainer Raul “Chino” Rivas left Philadelphia’s Airport Tuesday for the House of Blues, in Boston, MASS, and it’s the first 10 rounder for both fighters. Gonzalez is No. 14 in the WBC’s junior lightweight ranking.
Promotion is by Gold Boy Promotions, Murphy’s Boxing U.S.A., and Back East Promotions. First fight scheduled at 5:30pm
