Currently Al Haymon who few would question is the No. 1 manager in the country has signed about 50 fighters with what seems to be part of an anticipation of joining Richard Schaefer who just left Golden Boy Promotions as their CEO. The two may join up with Floyd Mayweather, Jr., for a fresh start.

There are 5 unbeaten Philly fighters (1 from DE) who are part of the “Nifty Fifty” Haymon has signed. He will pit them against each other such as when he had Danny “Swift” Garcia, 28-0 (16), the WBA Super World and WBC light welterweight champion who defeated former champion Zab Judah, 42-9 (29), in 2013. Both are signed with Haymon. Not only that but there is talk of Garcia moving up to welterweight soon and challenging Mayweather down the line.

Light middleweight Julian “J Rock” Williams, 16-0-1 (10), defeated former WBA light middle champion Joachim Alcine and in a vacant WBC International title fight won all 3 rounds before an accidental clash of heads with Hugo Centeno, Jr., 21-0 (11), was ruled a NC in the 4th round. “I had him beat and he knew it so he refused to continue though I believe he could have,” said Williams. He trains out of the Shuler Gym in West Philadelphia owned by Buster Custus.

While working with Bernard “The Alien” Hopkins, the current WBA Super World and IBF champion Dennis Hasson, 16-0 (6), out of the Kensington section of Philadelphia was in his second camp with Hopkins when he was noticed and signed with Haymon. He ended a 20 month lay-off in April under Haymon with a 2nd round KO.

Hasson has a new trainer in Billy Briscoe. They were training at Garcia’s DSG Gym in North Philadelphia. Haymon recently signed 17 year-old Milton Santiago, Jr., who has a 5-0 (3) record after just 3½ months debuting in February of this year under his father, Milton, Sr.’s guidance along with Moz Gonzalez and Eddie Woods. His next match is to be in Puerto Rico where the young prospect spent summers accumulating over 200 amateur bouts. His fourth fight was in PR. He’s also fought in DE and has a large following.

Out of DE is 19 year-old Kyron “Shut it Down” Davis, 3-0 (2), out of Wilmington who has 3 fight in a 3½ period scoring a win Friday night in CA. He’s won 2 national titles including the PAL and was runner-up in the 2013 National Golden Gloves after winning 2 PA state titles. He competed in the 2012 Olympic trials.

Some of the names mentioned that have been signed by Haymon are Mayweather, Garcia, Judah, Williams, Hasson, Santiago, Davis, Andre Berto, Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Robert Guerrero, Chad Dawson, Sakio Bika, Deontay Wilder, Edwin Rodriguez, Chris Arreola, J’Leon Love, Omar Figueroa, Antonio Tarver, Luis Collazo, Lamont and Anthony Peterson, Rances Barthelemy, Erislandy Lara (last 2 with Luis De Cubas, Jr.), Ramon Luis, Amir Kahn, Adonis Stevenson, Carlos Medina, BJ Flores, Devon Alexander, Caleb Plant, Marcos Forestal, Seth Mitchell, Fernando Guerrero, Anthony Dirrell, Rau’shee Warren, Terrell Gausha, Errol Spence, Chris Pearson, Dominic Breazeale, Josesito Lopez, Peter Quillin, Prichard Colon, John Molina, Leo Santa Cruz, Marcos Maidana, Adrien Broner, Lucas Mattysse, Victor Ortiz and Gary Russell, Jr. That’s 50!
