Cesar “El Distinto” Cuenca has been the No. 1 contender for Lamont Peterson’s title for over a year and even won an elimination fight in his last match. He was matched in China with China’s star attraction Ik “Wild Man” Yang, 19-1 (14) Saturday on a Top Rank show.

Yang who is trained by Freddie Roach Yang lost big time to Cuenca who improves to 48-0 with 2 knockouts and 2 no contest!

Cuenca scored a first round knockdown and was knocked down in the fifth but went on to dominate the fight with scores of 117-108 by Australia’s Ben Keilty, 116-109 by US’s Mike Fitzpatrick and 115-110 by Ian Scott of New Zealand.

Yank lost a point in the twelfth round for throwing Cuenca to the canvas by referee Danrex Tapdasan of the Philippines.
