Kovalev Defends Title Saturday Against Caparello in Atlantic City

In a battle of unbeaten boxers WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev, 24-0-1 (22), of Russia, residing in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, defends his title against IBO champion Blake “IL Capo” Caparello, 19-0-1 (6), of Victoria, Australia over 12 rounds at the Revel Casino & Resort, in Atlantic City, NJ, Saturday night! This is an HBO After Dark broadcast. Doors open at 6:30PM.
Main Events and DiBella Entertainment will co-promote. It is the third defense for Kovalev and Caparello is his No. 10 WBO contender. Kovalev has scored 12 knockouts in his last 13 fights with a TD2 the only bout not ending in knockout.
In the co-feature Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba, 22-2-2 (9), of RSA, meets Cory “Black Ice” Cummings, 17-6-1 (13), of Baltimore, MD, in a 10 round light heavyweight bout.
In a pair of 8 rounder’s Russia’s Dmitry “Mechanic” Mikhaylenko, 16-0 (6), makes his US debut taking on southpaw Sechew “Iron Horse” Powell, 26-5 (15), of Brooklyn, NY, who is returning after a 2 year absence, in a light middleweight bout. In an all Philadelphia heavyweight bout Joey Dawejko, 10-3-2 (3), meets David Williams, 7-8-2 (2).
In a pair of 6 rounder’s middleweight Decarlo “3mendo” Perez, 11-3-1 (4), of Atlantic City faces Marcus Willis, 13-3-2 (3), of Ft. Myers, FL. Polish heavyweight Adam Kownacki, 6-0 (6), of Brooklyn, NY, takes on Charles Ellis, 9-1-1 (8), of Wichita, KS. Opening the card will be Hakim “Braveheart” Bryant, 1-0 (0), of Asbury Park, NJ, pitted against Anthony Watson, 0-1 of Philadelphia in a 4 rounder.
