Who wins between 1940’s vs modern times?

I picked 3 of the best pound for pound fighters from boxing’s greatest era the 1940’s and compared them to 3 from the modern times.

I consider “The Brown Bomber” Joe Louis, the greatest heavyweight of all times. How does he fair against the self-proclaimed “greatest”, Muhammad Ali? Louis had 25 defenses. Ali was 3 time heavyweight champion. Louis was able to knock you out with a punch 6” from his target. Ali could throw a 6 punch combination within 2 seconds. Would Louis need a knockout to win? 51 KO’s in 65 wins! Would Ali dazzle him with foot work and hand speed even superior to the way Billy Conn did in Louis-Conn I? The 1st Ali was one who could have boxed with any of them. The “rope-a-dope” Ali would have never made the top 10. Louis lost out on 4 years while serving in the military while Ali missed out on 3 ½ years for not serving in the military! Both were never the same after their lay-offs. PICK: LOUIS BY KO or ALI BY DECISION

Henry “Homicide Hank” Armstrong had 149 wins with 101 knockouts in winning the featherweight, lightweight and welterweight titles. How would “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather, who won the same titles along with light welterweight, do against him? Would the unbeaten (39-0) Floyd have withstood the “head on your chest” style of Homicide Hank? Remember Castillo I? Or would he have moved like he did with De La Hoya? PICK: ARMSTRONG BY DEC or LATE STOPPAGE!

The great “Sugar” Ray Robinson who held the welterweight and middleweight titles was proclaimed by many to be the best pound for pound fighter of all time. He won 173 fights with 108 knockouts. How would Roy Jones fair with him in a middleweight bout? Jones was best at middleweight while also holding super middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight titles. How would “Sugar” Ray Leonard fair with Robinson in a welterweight bout? Both were better at welterweight. Leonard held the welterweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight titles. PICK: ROBINSON BY DEC OVER JONES & LEONARD!
