Darnell “Ding-A-Ling” Wilson 23-8-3 (20) seemed to be “eating” himself into a disqualification before ever fighting in the latest “The Contender” tourney. It wasn’t making 200 than beat him but Ehinomen’s “Hino” Ehikhamenor’s jab! Ehikhamenor 13-3 (7) who is from Benin, but fighting out of Queens won a lopsided 4-1 decision over 5 rounds. He had lost 3 of his last 4 fights coming in but was quite impressive in moving onto the next round. Wilson has now lost 3 of his last 4 bouts and may be returning to Michael’s 8th Avenue, in Glen Burnie, Maryland where he is 14-0. At 34 the Ding-A-Ling man may have dropped himself out of the ratings with this loss.

Troy Ross 18-1 (13), the Guyana southpaw fighting out of Canada met Lawrence Tauasa 30-6-1 (17) in the latest match and completely dominated his opponent with his jab. In the 2nd round what seemed like a short glancing right hook wobbled Tauasa and he went down. Upon rising he was in no condition to continue. It was the first time he has been stopped. Ross talked afterwards how they had grown to be friends prior to this match and feels their relationship would continue despite fighting one another.

Rico Hoye 21-2 (15) of Detroit made his cruiser debut in defeating Michael Alexander 12-3 (8) of Columbus, Ohio. In the other match Ryan “Irish Outlaw” Coyne 10-0 (3) of St. Louis scored a mild upset winning a split decision over 41 year old Tim Flamos 20-5-1 (8) from Brockton, Mass.

Winners from past matches are Felix Cora, Jr. 19-2-2 (9), Deon Elam 10-0 (5), Alfredo Escalera, Jr. 16-1-1 (9) and Akinyemi Laleye 11-1 (5).
