Brian Cohen: Ring Magazine’s Woman’s Boxing Manager of the Year!

South Philadelphia’s Brian Cohen now has a stable of 8 boxers of which 3
are women. He was voted Ring Magazine’s Woman’s Boxing Manager of the
Year for 2011. The 3 female boxers are WIBA Super featherweight
champion Melissa “Huracan” Hernandez, 16-3-3 (6), of Miami, FL, Ronica
“Queen” Jeffrey, 8-0 (1), NABF Super featherweight champion of Brooklyn,
NY, and Nydia Feliciano, 4-2-3 90), New York State featherweight champ
of the Bronx, NY, who just won in Atlantic City this month, in the
stable.
The 35 year-old Cohen is a former boxer who was 15-2 (14) as a super
middleweight fighting in 11 different states and New Zealand which was
his last fight in 2010 in a NC bout. He debuted in 1995 and fought once
in 1996. He returned to action in 2004 twice. Then he came back in
2008 through 2010.
On February 24th he will be with Edgar Santana’s, 26-3 (17), of NY, in
semi-windup to world title bout in Dover Downs (DE) over ESPN2 along
with Jeffrey on the undercard. In Harrah’s Chester, PA, the same night
he has his father Ivan who managed IBF light middleweight champion
Buster Drayton. He also managed Tyrone “Butterfly” Crawley whose son,
Tyrone, Jr., of Philadelphia will be making his debut. In addition Ivan
has Hank Lundy, 21-1-1, top rated lightweight. In Charlotte, NC, will
be his brother Joey with cruiserweight Ahmed Samir, 10-0 (3), of Queens,
NY, and Shawn Cameron (debut) of Brooklyn, NY and Hernandez on the
card. Talk about a manager covering all the bases in one day! He also
has Yasin Rashid, 7-2- (2), super middleweight out of Brooklyn, NY.
