Derek “Pooh” Ennis, 17-2-1 (12) is out to avenge a loss to his stablemate Anthony “The Messenger” Thompson when he meets Ishmail Arvin, 15-1-4 (7) at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, Saturday, April 11th in a Dee Lee Promotions. This is the first boxing promotion in Atlantic City this year.

This is an excellent match up of light middleweights. Ennis is from the Germantown section of Philadelphia and on a 5 fight win streak including defeating Willingboro’s Troy Browning last September.
Ennis is ranked #14 in the USBA ratings and looking to move up. He is trained by his father, “Bozy”, who also trains Thompson and Demitrius Hopkins among others.

Arvin, from Baltimore, stopped Thompson last August in DC at the end of the 6th round on an ESPN2 show. The cut Thompson had received was clearly shown to be an accidental head butt on the air. The commission refused to overturn the decision by the request of Cameron Dunkin, Thompson’s manager.

Camden’s Luis “Kid Duran” Burgos, 10-0-1 (4) returns to action after a 7 year lay-off and is in a 6 round light middleweight match with Jorge Delgado, 4-8 (2), Allentown, Pennsylvania who has been in with Ennis and Ray Serrano.

There will be 7 other bouts at this time featuring Atlantic City’s Qa’id Muhammad, 4-0 (4), Lavarn Harvell, 2-0 (0), Joel DeLaPaz, 2-0 (1) and Coy Evans, 4-0-1. Eugene Soto making his debut will also be featured. Sonny Mistretta is the matchmaker of this Diane Lee Fischer promotion.
