Tony “Boom Boom” Ferrante wins “Battle of Italians” at Blue Horizon!

Northeast Philly’s Tony “Boom Boom” Ferrante, 7-0 (4), knew in the 3rd round that Youngstown’s Anthony “Italian Nightmare” Pietrantonio, 6-2-1 (5), had played possum for 2 rounds with him when he opened up against the Philly light heavyweight in a scheduled 6 round bout at the Blue Horizon in Philadelphia Friday night.

After rocking Pietrantonio in both the 1st and 2nd rounds Ferrante had an abrasion by his right eye in the 3rd round that cut man Joe I quickly worked on between rounds. In the 4th round it was Pietrantonio whose left eye was swollen from the two fisted attack of Ferrante. Again Ferrante rocked his opponent just prior to the bell. In the 5th round while in a clinch with referee Shawn Clark saying “break”, Pietrantonio landed 3 quick punches to the face of Ferrante that annoyed him more than hurt him.

That was all he needed to open up on Pietrantonio driving him into the ropes defenselessly before Clark waved the bout off. Pietrantonio and his handlers complained about a quick stoppage. He was certainly behind 4-1 in rounds with little chance of pulling this fight out.

NOTE: This was in addition to earlier report of the Mtagwa-Medina bout.
