A year ago knockout artist Joe Julio,
36-4 (31), of Monteria, Colombia, now out of Miami, FL, was in a war
with Alfredo Angulo for the interim WBO light middleweight title
before he was stopped in the eleventh round. In August he made his
debut at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, for his promoter Kathy
Duva of Main Events defeating Philadelphia’s Jamal Davis over 10
rounds. This Friday Julio is back at the Center against Anges
Adjaho, 24-5 (14), of Cotonou, Benin, now out of Buffalo, NY in the
main event match over 10 rounds.
For Julio he will be coming down to the
welterweight division taking on Adjaho who lost his last fight
fighting for the NABF welterweight title losing to Shawn Porter in
February over 10 rounds. If Julio can bring that punching power down
to a lower weight class it could be devastating. The last time he
made 147 was in 2006 fighting in a WBA eliminator match.
Fan favorite 2008 Olympian Sadam “World
Kid” Ali, 12-0 (7), of Brooklyn, NY, will be in the semi-windup
welterweight bout over 8 rounds against John “Renegade” Revish,
10-3 (8), of Baton Rouge, LA, who a year ago fought to a draw with
Jason Pires, 22-3. Ali has fought his last 5 fights at the Center
being 6-0 overall there. Revish had his 8 bout winning streak
stopped with the draw.
On the under card will be local
favorites Jose Peralta Alejo, of Jersey City, 6-1 (4), and Joel
Castillo, 8-0 (5), of the Bronx, in 6 rounder’s, Vinny O’Brien,
2-0 (2), of East Hanover, NJ, Angel Concepcion, 4-0 (0), of Newark
and Tyrone Luckey, 3-0 (3) of Middletown, NJ, all in 4 rounder’s.
Always a fun night at the Center!
