Training out of South Philadelphia the 43 year old southpaw Amir “Hardcore” Mansour, 22-1 (16), out of Wilmington, DE, will look to continue his quest for a world title fight. In his last fight he won the PA heavyweight title and is looking at 33 year old Gerald “El Gallo Negro” Washington, of Vallejo, CA, at 6:06 a way of getting there.

Washington a former practice NFL player on two teams is aware Mansour has as many knockouts as he has wins and is not looking past him being his most dangerous opponent in his rather young career.

Moses Robinson has been the long time trainer of Mansour who is originally from Salem, NJ, while Robinson is a former boxer out of Philly. Due to health problems Robinson was going to retire having been training several fighters. He decided to stay with Mansour.

“Amir has been training hard with one of his former opponents Maurice “Mo” Harris (who went the distance with him) and a couple of others,” said James Gibbs (an advisor). In his only loss Mansour lost his USBA title by a narrow margin to former 2-time cruiserweight champion Steve “USS” Cunningham finding both on the canvas.

For Washington it will be his second 10 rounder who has gone 8 rounds three times including his last fight back in March. He is one of several tall prospects trying to get to the top seemingly with as little opposition as possible.

This main event will be part of Fox 1’s Tuesday Night Fights and being held at Little Creek Casino Resort in the state of Washington. Five other bouts with five prospects including Ahmed Elbiali, 12-0, Michael Hunter, 9-0, Phil Lo Greco, 25-2, Wale Omotoso 25-2 and Leo Hall 7-0.
