Remember early this month when Manny Pacquiao was quoted in the media as saying he feels an announcement for a boxing match vs. Floyd Mayweather will be made for for the end of this month (January)? Pacquiao stated: "We will make an announcement before the end of the month."
Well in my opinion, Pacquiao making this statement is the exact reason why if this fight is made, it won't be announced until February.
Why?
Because Mayweather wants all of us to know... he calls all the shots.. not Pacquiao. It's been basically that same story for the last 5 years... why would this time around in negotiating this fight be any different?
So, if any of us are expecting an announcement before the end of the month... forget about it. Unless Mayweather makes the announcement, and I highly doubt he wants to make Pacquiao look right (on the premature announcement), then don't expect an announcement to come before February is upon us.
I could be wrong... but we are talking Mayweather here... and we know how important it is for him to call all the shots... he's the Top Dog in boxing and uses every possible moment to remind us of this fact.
Personally, I'm cool with Mayweather making the fight announcement, even if it means waiting until February or further... as long as the fight is made. I don't care who makes the official announcement - I just know it will be Mayweather's side that does - or until his side says so... nothing will be official.
