Manny Pacquiao vs. Amir Khan - A fast-paced War that won't bore Boxing Fans By Kyle R. Lucas, Doghouse Boxing (Aug 6, 2015) TweetFollow @DoghouseBoxing
So far in my ongoing series, I've
picked Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Adrien "The Problem" Broner as three possible candidates for Manny Pacquiao. Today, I'm talking about Manny Pacquiao vs. Amir Khan.
Khan has been very vocal about wanting a fight against Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. - a fight that isn't going to happen. Mayweather is going the easy route with a fight against Andre Berto - a fight vs. Khan would have been more exciting. Khan has also issued plenty of comments in the press of wanting a clash with Manny Pacquiao. When you consider Pacquiao vs. Khan is... it's certainly a better fight than Mayweather vs. Berto and easily a better Pay-per-view for your hard earned bucks. Plus Khan has a strong fan base, the same can not be said for Berto.
Khan and Pacquiao have sparred in the past when Khan was part of Freddie Roach's stable of fighters. Because of this, Khan has a unique perspective on how Pacquiao fights. To some extent, they both know what makes each other tick in the ring. This may make for an even more interesting and tighter action packed fight. Like Pacquiao, Khan is known for excellent hand speed. Pacquiao vs. Khan would be a fast-paced war... the kind of fight Pacquiao loves to be in.
If Khan won, he'd finally have a win over a name that would be impressive on his record. His star power would definitely grow. My feeling is he would lose to Pacquiao, but Khan has lost before to lesser fighters and it has not hurt his career moving forward. In losing to Pacquiao, he'd be happy with his pay day and the exposure.
I don't see this fight going the full 12 rounds. This would be an explosive fight that would end with Pacquiao knocking out Khan. Remember, sure both have sparred one another, but Pacquiao is still with Roach and Roach knows a thing or two about Khan - after all, he was Khan's trainer for awhile. (Khan now trains with Virgil Hunter.) Pacquiao still has the power, and Khan still has his chin (which some compare to glass).
Pacquiao vs. Khan is a much better fight than Mayweather vs. Berto and a solid match-up and fight for the fans.
Tomorrow, I'll have another fight in which I think would be great for Pacquiao.
Why stop with just this!?
