Final Quotes from : Casamayor, Seda, Moorer, Castillo
Media Report (July 2, 2004)
In a 10-round battle of former pro champions, Casamayor will square off against Seda on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING Saturday, July 3, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The co-feature from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Fla., will pit former two-time heavyweight champion Michael Moorer against Cuban Eliseo Castillo in a 10-round heavyweight battle. Team Freedom Promotions with Northeast Promotions, in association with Cedric Kushner Promotions, LTD, will promote the SHOWTIME doubleheader.

JOEL CASAMAYOR (30-2, 19 KOs)

“Since some judges do not appreciate smart, intelligent boxers who know how to hit and not be hit, and can dictate the pace, I have definitely concentrated more on starting my fights quicker and throwing more punches. The fights they say I lost were because I got so far behind on the scorecards early.

“Daniel Seda is a good, unbeaten fighter, but I am a warrior and have fought unbeaten boxers before. I will fight anybody. I do not dodge anyone. I have worked hard and am in tremendous shape. It does not matter what he tries to do. It is all about what I do. I give Seda credit for getting in the ring for me. He is hungry, but he will not be after Saturday night.’’

DANIEL SEDA (20-0-1, 16 KOs)

“This is like a championship fight for me, and I am looking forward to beating Joel Casamayor. He can say what he wants. I will do all my talking in the ring. This is going to be a great fight.’’

MICHAEL MOORER (46-3-1, 36 KOs)

“Castillo thinks I am at the end of my career. Some of the press thinks the same thing. But, it does not matter to me what anyone thinks or says or writes. I have been around a long time. Castillo has a lot of experience, especially in the amateurs. I have fought at the highest level for years. People think it is important for me to not just win, but too look good, too. I put no emphasis on that at all. My goal, as always, is to destroy and crush my opponent.’’

ELISEO CASTILLO (17-0-1, 14 KOs)

“This is definitely a big step up for me, but one I am looking forward to. Moorer has had a great career. Now, it is my turn. His time is up. I was off for a long time, but I have re-dedicated myself. I have won my three fights this year by knockout. I plan to keep it going and become the next heavyweight champion of the world.’’
