“On The Ropes” Boxing Radio is back again this week with host Jenna J to talk about all the latest stories going on in the sport of boxing. In this episode I breakdown the exciting fight card that took place this past Saturday on Showtime in which Keith Thurman, Omar Figueroa and Jesus Soto-Karass all got very important victories. I talk about what a win means for each of these fighters and what may be in store for them in the near future. I also recap Zou Shiming’s second professional fight in which Shiming managed to get his second consecutive decision win but still didn’t manage to captivate the boxing world with his performance. This weeks show kicks off with the newly crowned Interim WBA welterweight champion, Keith Thurman. Thurman faced his toughest fight to date when he took on Diego Chaves this past Saturday, and while he seemed to struggle early on, he managed to make adjustments and scored a 10th round KO win. Keith talks about the fight and what he wants to accomplish next in his career. The second guest of this weeks show is boxing promoter Don King, who joins the show to discuss the controversy surrounding Guillermo Jones’ positive drug test. The fight with Lebedev took place over 10 weeks ago, yet this positive test is coming to light just now. Finally, Jazzy Jeff Mayweather, boxing trainer and uncle of Floyd Mayweather Jr. returns to the show. Jeff gives his views on the boxing scene and talks about the 2 biggest fights of the year, Mayweather vs. Canelo and Pacquiao vs. Rios. Jeff also gives a little insight to his relationship with Floyd and what fighters he is currently training.
