In the two days leading up to the Vitali Klitschko and Danny Williams fight and then including fight night itself, doghouseboxing.com caught up with a number of huge personalities in the boxing world. Two of those personalities were Bob Arum and Don King … this is what they had to say …

Bob Arum.

Bob was very quick to dispel the rumours that he was insisting on promotional rights to the British and WBC no.1 world middleweight title contender Howard Eastman, despite another site’s insistence on this matter. Arum stated, "I have never had promotional rights to Howard Eastman. Myself and Howard Eastman's promoter Mick Hennessy had discussions about me making the fight with Bernard Hopkins. But now Bernard has signed a joint promotional contract with Oscar that deal is now dead and buried," stated Arum.

Perhaps more interestingly was Arum's comments concerning the multitude of belts that fighters can now fight for. "When as a promoter you are making a fight, it does not matter what belt he is fighting for. It is the fight that matters and if the fight is a quality fight for the fans to watch.  Another key factor is if the fighters are being paid well," stated Arum.

"Unfortunately, belts no longer mean anything nowadays. Don't get me wrong, if you are trying to build up a fighter’s reputation with the public then perhaps fighting for a belt will enhance that reputation with the public. But if you have established world stars it no longer matters whether they fight for belts or not, it is the money on offer the fighters are concerned about.

Doghouseboxing.com thanked Bob Arum for his time.
